In its original design and concept, The Woodlands embodied a respect for nature and provided a counterpoint to the chaos and commercialism of the city. The 19th century cemetery was one of the few places to feel the calm of the country near the industrial city. Today, as Philadelphia continues to grow, The Woodlands has once again emerged as an urban oasis.

2018 has been a great year. We hosted more events than ever, received national recognition for our Grave Gardener program on CBS Sunday Morning, continued capital improvements to the site, and welcomed over 40,000 people through our gates. We have big plans for 2019 including new partnerships, more facility improvements, and landscape enhancements.

The Woodlands functions like public space, but is a privately owned non-profit that receives no regular public funding. It’s hard to quantify the benefits of 54-acres of open space in the middle of a major city–we hope you see the value The Woodlands provides the community and include us in your end of year giving. Help us reach our $40,000 end of year fundraising goal today.
